Kvaratskhelia’s ACL ruptured during the 4-2 Champions League win against Barcelona on Tuesday, giving Paris Saint-Germain a significant setback as the Georgian winger is soon to be knee surgery to the best of their knowledge. The 25-year-old received the injury on his own merits after being challenged by Barcelona’s Xavi Espart at the Parc des Princes. Concerns grew over the extent of the damage as Kvaratskhelia was unable to get his weight on the ball on his right leg and was replaced in the 59th minute.
PSG have confirmed the ACL injury, but have yet to say a date for his return. Their most important attacking player will be missing and it could make a big difference for the French champions if they are to defend their European crown. Kvaratskhelia signed with PSG from Milanese side Napoli in January 2025 and helped the Spaniards win the Champions League. That’s the concern for manager Luis Enrique at the Parisian side with him missing 11 games this season. The Georgian winger is not the only big name that PSG are missing.
The club also announced that forward Ousmane Dembele and captain Marquinhos will miss a couple weeks due to thigh injuries. Dembele was hurt in the 19th minute in Barcelona’s match against the Swiss and had to leave with a problem with his left thigh. Marquinhos later suffered a right thigh injury adding another hurdle for the coach. PSG did not come down with a cold, and their outstanding run of form continued when they beat Barcelona. The two sides were level (2-2) when the late goals came, but the home side picked up the third consecutive win.
