Ronaldo & Henry Feud Rumours Resurface After Comments

The Ronaldo-Henry feud is now once again a topic of conversation among followers of the game, after Thierry Henry reportedly didn’t give Cristiano Ronaldo his due respect as a player. Rumour mongers have been fueling the rumours linking the two former forwards since March 2024, when former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand spoke about Henry’s attitude towards Ronaldo.

Ferdinand’s remarks sparked a discussion over the extent to which the French legend had recognised the Portuguese star’s accomplishments. Ronaldo and Henry have both carved out their own niche as some of the most recognisable attacking players in football history, but in different ways. Ronaldo came to be known as the premier goal scorer, the individual Euphaus winner and Manchester United and Real Madrid winner, while Henry became known as the Arsenal, Barcelona and France national team’s winner and playmaker.

In the past, their names have crossed paths when it comes to football’s biggest forwards, with differing views on Ronaldo’s career and achievements sparking online debates. But be wary of personal enmity, though two players could disagree on football for any number of reasons without being at odds with one another. Another talking point that came up when Henry spoke about Ronaldo, and he called him “Cristiano”, was about Brazilian great Ronaldo Nazário being the “Original Ronaldo.” The difference is due to the fact that two players have the same surname but different generations in football history.

The renewed discussion reminds us of how comparisons can be made between the elite players that can continue after their big playing days. Ferdinand’s comments have brought to mind once again the question of Ronaldo’s place in the game, and the opinions of his peers about his successes.
