Pep Guardiola Slams Rivals Over Transfer Spending

Pep Guardiola criticizes the transfer amounts spent by the competitors and justifies the recent financial performance of Manchester City. It is no secret that the City boss is a genius tactically but with his recent remarks, he proves to be a genius in psychological warfare. Guardiola is transferring the pressure to the rest of the people as Arsenal crashes at the title.

He asserts that City has been seventh in terms of net spend in the past five years only. In so doing he puts a barrier around his team. Should City win, he has got it because of his brilliance. In the event they go down, he can refer to the huge investments by such clubs as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal. It is a stroke of genius to pose the discussion prior to the season attaining its climax.

Guardiola particularly stated that it is now the fact-based responsibility of other teams to win. They have increased expenditure and are therefore required to produce trophies such as the champions league and the premier league. This puts Mikel Arteta and other managers in a bad position. They no longer have the option of playing the underdog card when the most successful manager of the world is and taking the point of their bank statements.

But this “grumpy” character cannot be digested by so many fans. The initial years of his tenure were characterized by massive expenditure by City in order to establish this base. Although their net spend in the recent past is less because of the smart player sales, the upfront cost is massive. Guardiola is in effect arguing that the big six have been even in terms of expenditure, and thus the reasons why they are not winning must come to a stop.
