Inter Miami defeated Montreal CF 4-2 at Chase Stadium on Wednesday thanks to Lionel Messi’s two goals and assist. Miami won for the second time in nine matches in all competitions. They climbed up to sixth in the Eastern Conference with their first win in four MLS games.
Miami took a 1-0 lead in the first half as Messi scored from outside the box in the 27th minute. Miami extended the advantage in the 68th minute when Luis Suárez shot into the right corner and added an assist. Suárez scored again three minutes later, capitalizing on a Montreal defender error to make it 3–0.
Montreal, last in the Eastern Conference, scored in the 74th minute through Dante Sealy. Messi scored again, and Suarez assisted him in the 87th minute. Montreal’s Victor Loturi scored second in extra time, but Miami won 4-2. Miami head coach Javier Mascherano lauded his team’s 3-3 tie and Wednesday triumph against Philadelphia.
