Mehdi Taremi will Miss Club World Cup?

International media reported on Sunday that Inter Milan forward Mehdi Taremi may miss the FIFA Club World Cup in the US due to rising tensions between Iran and Israel.

The Nerazzurri signed Taremi to a three-year contract in July 2024, but he is stuck in Tehran and cannot join his squad for the competition. He was nominated to Inter’s 32-man squad and was to join them in Los Angeles before their opening encounter on Wednesday.

The Iranian striker will not join the Nerazıurri for the first or subsequent matches, according to international media.

Due to regional tensions, Iran has halted planes for two days, disrupting travel plans. This prevented Taremi from boarding his Saturday flight. Despite the obstacles, Inter Milan executives have been in close contact with Iranian authorities in Italy to find a solution.

Over the past 24 hours, Inter has been in regular communication with the Iranian authorities in Italy to soothe the player and try to find an impossible solution. The footballer is safe from bombs in Tehran, the report said.

On Tuesday, Taremi scored for Iran in their World Cup qualification triumph over North Korea in Tehran. Since joining Inter Milan, he has 43 appearances and 3 goals.
