Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at Anfield on Sunday to win the 2024/25 Premier League. Mohammad Salah, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Alexis Mac Allister, and an own goal sealed the win for Liverpool after Dominic Solanke’s top goal for Tottenham.
After five years, Arne Slot’s team won. Their 20th title equals long-time Premier League foe Manchester United.
Liverpool were shocked when former Reds striker Solanke scored in the 12th minute to put Tottenham in front, but Luis Diaz, Mac Allister, and Gakpo scored to make it 3-1 at halftime. In the second half, Salah snapped his six-game scoring drought with a brilliantly struck low shot in the 63rd minute.
An own goal by Spurs’ Destiny Udogie sealed the deal. Liverpool leads the table with 82 points from 34 games, with Arsenal in second place on 67.
After winning their latest title, Liverpool has 20 Premier League titles, eight FA Cups, and 10 League Cups. Their trophy collection included six European Cups/Champions Leagues, three UEFA Cup/Europa Leagues, four European Super Cups, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
