Kylian Starts Faster Than Ronaldo in Record-Breaking Season

Kylian Mbappe has not taken long to justify why Real Madrid drained the bank to acquire him. The French striker is on an all-time scoring streak, but another fantastic brace propelled Los Blancos to a 4-1 win over Levante on Tuesday. With 7 goals in 6 matches and 9 in 7 matches, he is already surpassing the tournament goal by far, and the Madridistas are fantasising about record-breaking numbers.

Marca claims that the current strike rate of 1.28 goals per match is only the highest in the LaLiga this season and better than Cristiano Ronaldo’s best year in Madrid colours.

Ronaldo was the most prolific goalscorer in 2014-15, with 54 matches and 61 goals, equivalent to one and a half goals per game. Mbappe is rewriting that story, scoring at a rate and with an efficiency that can hardly be realised even in Madrid’s star-studded history.

However, maintaining such figures throughout a season is a test of time. In the last season, Mbappe scored 44 goals in 59 matches, which is not a bad result compared to the current one. By remaining partially as he is now, the 25-year-old could break long-time club records and make his name alongside, possibly above, the legends he would have envisioned as a youngster.
