Cristiano Giuntoli has had “too much power,” according to former Juventus winger Massimo Mauro, but he learns from Thiago Motta’s dismissal that the club’s history must be “respected.”
Juventus hired Igor Tudor for the final nine games of the season on Sunday after dismissing Motta.
Juventus has spent more than €200 million on new players over the last two transfer seasons, yet the Bianconeri are currently fifth in Serie A and have already eliminated themselves from the Coppa Italia and Champions League.
“I preserved Giuntoli and Motta’s summer idea of trying to win with a different playing style, but the execution was a complete failure,” Mauro, a former winger for Juventus, told Gazzetta.
“The lesson is that history of Juventus has to be honoured.” Pirlo was fired despite finishing fourth and winning the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa, while Sarri won the Scudetto and was fired after a year. So far, Thiago hasn’t even finished the season.
