Enrique Hails PSG After Lyon Thriller

After his side dropped a stoppage-time goal that resulted in late drama, Paris St Germain manager Luis Enrique (54) did not enjoy the closing stages of their exciting victory at Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday. Following their 3-2 victory, PSG extended their winning streak to eight games in all competitions to widen their lead to 13 points over second-placed Olympique de Marseille by reaching 59 points in Ligue 1.

Although the Spaniard hailed his squad for another outstanding performance, he noted they lost control of the game against Lyon after twice leading two goals and had to defend their advantage until very last.

Enrique once more lauded his team’s mindset, which has not lost since November, off the back of a 10-0 aggregate triumph over Brest in the Champions League playoffs in midweek.

“The team has kept becoming better today. Personality-wise, the team has developed in a match that got tense; the second half was excellent in terms of emotional and physical control.”

“The match got crazy and when you’re winning you can’t go crazy but I think the team grew again today in personality and character.”

Next Wednesday, PSG visits fourth-tier Stade Briochin in the French Cup quarter-finals.
