Barcelona and Inter Milan drew 3-3 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final on Thursday night, a fascinating match full of drama, goals, and tactical skirmishes.
With 72% possession, the hosts attacked relentlessly, taking 19 shots, nine on target. They scored early when teenage wonder Lamine Yamal scored in the 24th minute and Ferran Torres added a second in the 38th.
Inter Milan capitalised despite prolonged pressure. After Marcus Thuram scored in the 11th minute, Denzel Dumfries startled the Camp Nou with goals in the 21st and 63rd minutes.
The visitors equalised in the 65th minute after Barcelona keeper Yann Sommer’s costly own goal.
“It was an amazing battle to watch, almost like a boxing match where opposing styles make the fight,” remarked former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock.
Barça and Inter were set up differently, making for a great game. Former Rangers striker Ally McCoist said: “Tonight was just special — special to be here and watch those two teams. Tonight’s football was amazing.”
Barcelona completed 883 passes with 91% accuracy, demonstrating their possession-based style, but Inter’s direct and counter-attacking approach was equally effective. Both teams received one yellow card, although Inter was caught offside five times.
