Ferran Torres PSG transfer talks have hit an early setback after Barcelona reportedly rejected an initial offer of around €40 million ($46.2 million) from the French champions for the Spain forward.
Barcelona, meanwhile, has refused an opening bid by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for the 26-year-old, as it maintains talks on the future of the Catalan arete. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old was the subject of an opening offer from PSG on Monday, says international media.
According to Spanish media, Torres has already signed with PSG, which could put him back under the wing of former Spain boss Luis Enrique, who is now in charge of the French champions. But Torres has been very hesitant to talk about his future openly. The forward is currently on a contract at Barcelona until June 2027 and has left it as an option to wait until a final decision has been made on his next steps.
During his promotional trip to the U.S., Torres admitted that he still has a deal with Barcelona but said that, because of the volatile nature of the sport, it could be up for grabs. The forward was also asked if he had any preferred destination. He told the reporters he has a “dream” team in mind, but wasn’t about to name the team.
If the reported rejection to PSG’s initial bid proves to be true then the talks between the two clubs could be extended. Barcelona might be prepared to pay more before they look at Torres for a move, especially as the Spaniard has another contract to play out.
In the eyes of PSG, it would be a chance to add another player with Spain experience to Luis Enrique’s squad and a chance to work with another player who he previously coached at international level.
