Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham are among Jose Mourinho’s biggest challenges as he looks to fit them all in the same XI for Real Madrid.
Mourinho, who took over the Santiago Bernabeu for a second time in June, admitted it will be tricky to mould a side that features three top attackers into the right shape for Real. The Portuguese coach, however, disputed the notion that these are inabilities that can’t be resolved.
“They’re fantastic players and fantastic players want to play with fantastic players,” Mourinho said to reporters before Real Madrid’s debut La Liga match against Espanyol on Saturday.
The 63-year-old said that when playing with other elite players, that’s a given, but if you have to deal with world-class talent on a different level then it can get quite tricky.
“After making the tactical changes, it may be a little bit harder, he said, the best want to play with the best.”
The three will play a major role as Real Madrid seek to win the Spanish league title back from Barcelona, who have won both of the last two seasons.
Mbappe has been an attacking central threat and goal threat while Vinicius has been a wide player with pace and directness. But Bellingham provides Mourinho with another high-quality attacking option from midfield, which could pose a challenge for him to find the most efficient use of all three without sacrificing the quality of the whole team.
The dispute follows a rough campaign last year which was said to have featured dressing room squabbles and unrest at the club. This means Mourinho has been under pressure to bring more stability in, while keeping the Real duos of the big guns going to perfection.
