Wolverhampton Wanderers have welcomed Portuguese attacker Diogo Jota into the club’s Hall of Fame after he died in a vehicle accident earlier this month. This honors his services to the squad.
On July 3, 2025, Jota and his brother Silva died in an automobile crash in northeastern Spain that set their car on fire. Reports say that the two were on their way to the UK to get ready for Liverpool’s pre-season games. Reports say that the deadly crash happened in the early hours of the morning when their car went off the road and caught fire.
Jota was a big part of Wolves’ rise to the Premier League in 2018, and he quickly became a fan favorite at Molineux. He joined the team in 2017 and went to Liverpool in 2020, where he kept doing well.
Jota played for Liverpool 182 times and scored 65 goals in all competitions. He played 49 times for Portugal on the international level, making him a key member of the national team.
Matt Wild, Wolves’ director of football administration, praised Jota’s legacy on and off the field.
“Diogo was not only a great football player, but he was also humble and kind while he was at Wolves. We will all miss him very much,” Wild added.
The Wolves Hall of Fame honors players who have had a big impact on the team over the years. Jota is currently part of a famous group that includes Billy Wright, Derek Dougan, and Steve Bull.
Famous artist John Culshaw recently unveiled a fresco of Jota near Anfield as condolences came in. The painting shows the forward smiling and making a heart shape with his hands, which he did a lot when he scored goals.
Football fans all across the world will remember Jota for a long time, especially at Molineux and Anfield, where he made a lasting impression.
