Tottenham Targets Superstar in Secret January Bid

Marc Guehi was not signed by Tottenham Hotspur after a “secret” bid was sent to Crystal Palace in the closing days of the January transfer window. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Daniel Levy’s team may yet try to bolster their defense in the summer.

Due to injuries sustained by Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, Spurs had been without a starting center-back for weeks, with Ange Postecoglou filling in for juvenile midfielders Archie Gray and Radu Dragusin. Then, after Dragusin’s ACL injury left them in the dark, Tottenham made an offer for Guehi.

Since the information didn’t come to light until the deadline on Monday morning, Romano believes this was a “secret” offer. Given the recent interest from Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Newcastle United, the journalist thinks Guehi will leave Selhurst Park in the summer, even though Palace has declared that they don’t intend for him to leave before the transfer deadline.
