Stuttgart beat Hamburg 3-0 in 1st leg of the Bundesliga playoff. The five-year wait for Hamburger SV to return to the Bundesliga appears to continue.

Serhou Guirassy contributed to Stuttgart’s 3-0 victory over Hamburg on Thursday in the first leg of their playoff, which put Stuttgart in a strong position to maintain their spot in Germany’s top tier.

The Bundesliga’s final surviving original member, Hamburg, was demoted in 2018 and has since been vying for promotion. Prior to finishing third last year and qualifying for a playoff match against Hertha Berlin, they placed fourth in 2019, 2020, and 2021. On that particular occasion, Hertha won.
