Saudi-Backed Ronaldo Eyes Valencia Ownership

According to Spanish media, Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, who is now employed by Saudi Arabian team Al-Nassr, is apparently in talks to buy the venerable Spanish La Liga team Valencia.

According to the Foot Mercato report, which was shared by BeIN Sports, Cristiano Ronaldo has been in talks with Peter Lim, the present owner of Valencia, to become the primary stakeholder of the Mestalla-based team.

Ronaldo and Peter Lim have a tight relationship and even run several joint businesses. Lim also owns the image rights of the Portuguese celebrity, therefore underscoring the close relationships between the two.

While Ronaldo personally wants to buy Valencia, Peter Lim is apparently eager to sell his whole share in the club by the conclusion of the season.

Expected to seek financial backing from Saudi Arabia’s royal investment funds to seal the deal, the Portuguese legend plans to settle in Spain following his playing career.

Valencia, which was founded in 1919, has a remarkable record comprising six La Liga championships, one UEFA Cup, one UEFA Cup Winners’s Cup, and two UEFA Cups.

Ronaldo has been making shockingly 200 million euros annually, over 208 million dollars, since he joined Al-Nassr in January 2023.

In 30 games for the Saudi team, the 40-year-old attacker has shown an amazing performance, scoring 25 goals and dishing forth 4 assists.
