Paul Pogba Injury Sparks Fresh Concern

The Paul Pogba injury issue is back on the table following the French midfielder’s latest setback in his training camp in England, which has made it unclear how fit he will be for the new season in Ligue 1.

The 33-year-old France international suffered the injury while in training on Tuesday at England’s national football teams home base at St George’s Park. It happened on the first day of Monaco’s training in England and just days after they won a friendly against Liverpool.

The latest is especially frustrating for the starter, who has only recently returned to group training after suffering problems with his right knee. The midfielder has been slowly building back up to full fitness but has managed just one half of football whilst Monaco prepare for their pre-season.

The new injury has left Pogba significantly lacking in the box-to-box game department, with sources close to the situation indicating he would be unlikely to start Ligue 1 this season. Monaco’s medics will have to determine the extent of the damage before they come up with a recovery date.

Pogba is struggling to readjust to pro football since he rejoined the fray after being banned for 18 months for a doping violation at Monaco. He has been keen to get back to a prominent part of football in Europe but injuries have derailed his path so far.

The ex-Manchester United and Juventus midfielder featured in just 115 minutes for the league last season, making six appearances. Those few games underscored the challenges he had in getting back into the swing of things and into a rhythm.

The new season is just around the corner and now Monaco is once again unsure of how many games he will be available for. The club’s veterans would have liked this player to be a bigger part of the picture this year, but now the club has new questions about his ability to be a regular player. The next few weeks will be vital as Pogba continues his frustrating quest to return to form after several streaks of poor runs of form.
