Pakistan FA Amendments May End FIFA Ban

After the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) proposed constitutional reforms on Thursday, FIFA is expected to lift the ban. The PFF announced that FIFA’s proposed constitutional revisions were adopted by the newly elected Congress of the federation in an Extraordinary Congress met here under PFF President and NC Chairman Saud Azim Hashimi. The Congress members agreed that implementing the FIFA-proposed revisions will ease the ban imposed by the apex body earlier this month, benefiting Pakistan football.

Notably, FIFA announced the suspension and required the PFF Constitution given by FIFA and the AFC to lift it. The announcement stated that the PFF Congress must approve FIFA and the AFC’s PFF Constitution to lift the ban. The national football squad may be able to play in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers next month if the suspension is lifted.

Deputy General Secretary AFC Vahid Kardany, FIFA Head of MA Governance Rolf Tanner, and AFC Head of South Asia Unit Purushottam Kattel, together with NC members Muhammad Shahid Niaz Khokhar and Haris Azmat, attended the high-profile Congress meeting.

AFC Deputy General Secretary Kardany lauded Congress members’ dedication to Pakistan football reforms. He also thanked the Normalization Committee for its assistance.
