Even after a great season, Nottingham Forest can be frustrated with Wednesday’s draw with Arsenal at the City Ground. Arsenal were shut out again in a critical late-season fixture and fell 13 points behind leaders Liverpool. Mikel Arteta was furious after the game as Arsenal’s title hopes faded.
Forest resisted and threatened on the counter assault, but they fell short of the Gunners. Nottingham Forest finish with 48 points, six behind Arsenal. Riccardo Calafiori’s first-half effort at the far post warned Nottingham Forest, but not. The Arsenal back’s nearly moment was their most dangerous, as Mikel Merino again failed to score. Arsenal had 65% possession but only two of their 13 attempts were on target.
Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Kai Havertz’s injuries are a major setback, but a great team needed solutions in January. Some Gunners fans will mourn Eddie Nketiah and Reiss’ departures.
