With a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Lecce, Napoli have inched closer to securing their first Serie A championship in 33 years. The win has now given them a commanding 19-point lead over second-placed Lazio, increasing their chances of clinching the title even further. The scoring started with a Giovanni di Lorenzo header, followed by Federico di Francesco’s equalizer for Lecce after the break. Napoli’s win over Lecce was crucial in their pursuit of the Serie A title as they had lost some ground in the previous weeks due to a few disappointing results. However, with this win, they have taken a significant step forward and are now in a commanding position in the league table.
But Napoli found an own-goal winner when defender Antonino Gallo chested the ball and saw it slip through goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone’s hands.
The visitors held on to bounce back from Sunday’s 4-0 loss to AC Milan.
