Luton Town could play the first Premier League games away
Despite struggling at Old Trafford, Burnley striker Wout Weghorst, who joined Manchester United on loan in January, might be given another chance to play in the Premier League.
If stadium renovations are not finished in time, Luton Town may have to play “maybe two or three” of their first Premier League games away from home, according to their chief recruitment officer.
In order to meet the league’s broadcasting regulations, construction has started on the Bobbers Stand at Kenilworth Road.
Due to the short deadline, the task “might become a bit of a problem,” according to Mick Harford.
According to the BBC, the league and the club are in talks.
The Hatters earned a promotion to the top division, where the season begins in mid-August, by defeating Coventry City 6-5 on penalties last Saturday at Wembley.
The suitability of Kenilworth Road, where Luton has played since 1905, to host Premier League football has been questioned.

Although it has a 10,356 capacity, which is more than the 5,000 minimum required by the league, it does not meet the requirements for media and other facilities.
Harford told the BBC that the club had to be prepared for the start of the top division league if necessary, therefore chief executive Gary Sweet and his colleagues had been “planning months and months before” the play-off final.
“There is a schedule of work that has to be done,” he stated, “about 11 to 12 weeks.”
We will likely have to play perhaps two or three games away from home to open the Premier League season because of this potential issue.
But Gary has everything set up, we’re in a good spot, and construction has started so everything is in motion.
Mr. Sweet predicted that the club would need to spend roughly £10 million to “pretty much rebuild” one stand in less than three months, “which is some task,” before the team was promoted.
Since 2019, the club has been granted permission to build a new stadium in Power Court in the town center.
The club revealed images of the proposed stadium last week and announced that a thorough planning application would be presented during the off-season.
It stated that 2026 was the anticipated completion date “regardless of league position”.
