Kylian Mbappe Misses Copa del Rey Clash, Says Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti, who also backed his team’s grievances against Spanish judging on Tuesday, stated that Kylian Mbappe will miss Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey quarterfinal matchup against Leganes because of a broken calf. After escaping a red card after being hacked down by Carlos Romero, Kylian Mbappe scored the game-winning goal in La Liga’s 1-0 loss to Espanyol.

Referees were described as “rigged” and “completely discredited” in a letter sent by Madrid to the Spanish Football Federation on Monday. Ancelotti informed reporters, “We gave Mbappe an extra day of recovery yesterday, and he started training today.”

“He has a bruised calf, he trained normally but tomorrow he will not be available for the game.”

Ancelotti reiterated his stance prior to the Leganes match and described Romero’s non-send-off as “inexplicable” after the game.

“We´re talking about something that´s inexplicable, we´re talking above all about the welfare of the players, and what Madrid´s message asks for is an explanation, and that seems right to me,” he stated.

“We want an explanation about what happened and why nothing was done to look after the welfare of the player.”

Carlo Ancelotti has announced that Jude Bellingham and David Alaba, who hurt his thigh on Tuesday, would not play for Leganes. The Austrian defender is expected to miss two to three weeks, according to Ancelotti.

Alaba will miss Saturday’s La Liga derby against Atletico Madrid and the Champions League play-off matchup against Manchester City despite having recovered from a year-long knee ailment. After playing the Premier League team in Manchester on February 11, Real Madrid will host the second leg on February 19.

Antonio Injury

Due to Antonio Rudiger’s thigh injury, Madrid is expected to start midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni and rookie center-back Raul Asencio.

Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao, two Madrid defensemen, are out due to injuries. Regretfully, we lost two important players in the last two days, which was unexpected. Alaba was in a good mood and was prepared to play tomorrow, according to Ancelotti.

“It´s a moment of emergency which we have to bear out, because these are small problems, Alaba will be out for 15-20 days, Rudiger the same, so we have to deal with it with (the players) we have.”
