Joao Pedro said that Fluminense helped him succeed in football by saying, “If I’m here, it’s because they believed in me,” according to reports from the foreign media on Wednesday. Chelsea won 2-0 over Fluminense to reach the Club World Cup final. Pedro scored both goals for the Blues, putting on an amazing show.
Last Monday, Chelsea paid £60 million ($81.5 million) to buy the 23-year-old Brazilian attacker from Brighton & Hove Albion. He scored the first goal in the 18th minute with a great curving shot. He made the lead twice as big early in the second half by scoring off a counter-attack he started by regaining the ball in midfield and passing it to Pedro Neto down the right wing.
Pedro didn’t celebrate much after scoring both goals. He put his palms out in apology after hitting the club where he made a name for himself. Pedro remarked that Fluminense is a big part of his achievement, but he needs to fulfill his job in football.
“Fluminense gave me everything. They introduced me to the world. Pedro replied, “I’m here because they believed in me.”
“I’m really thankful, but this is football, so I have to act like a pro.” I feel bad for them, but I have to do my job.
Pedro played his first game for Chelsea on Friday, when they beat Palmeiras 2-1 in the quarterfinals. The Brazilian forward emphasized that winning the game was the most important thing.
“Today, I guess I had more time to do my stuff because I started and I had to score. “The team won, and that’s what matters,” he stated after the game.
A month after Chelsea bought Liam Delap to help their attack, Pedro joined the team. Chelsea will play either Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain in the final on Sunday.
