Is William Saliba Missing the World Cup?

France and Arsenal fans have been given a huge sigh of relief as reports on William Saliba’s injury come in. Although the star defender has been in the spotlight for a few weeks lately, with some worries about his ability to play at the FIFA World Cup this summer, France head coach Didier Deschamps has put out a statement to defuse the bomb.

In recent reports it was revealed that the centre-back had a persistent back condition and required immediate scans. This immediately caused alarm that France would lose one of their cornerstones in their defense before the World Cup begins. But Deschamps has made it clear the situation is not serious. He states that although Saliba is in a delicate condition, with care and treatment he shouldn’t pose a tournament hazard.

On a larger scale, it is a giant challenge to the French team’s management. It’s a long game from Deschamps. With their minutes and treatment being managed now, France will have the best player on their team in Saliba for the knockout stages than they would for the first few matches of the group stage.

Explosive centre-backs have a tendency to injure their backs. The French medical team is keeping things in check, but Arsenal supporters will be keeping a close eye on to see Saliba getting a clean bill of health. The panic buttons can be removed from the vicinity for now.
