Getafe Stalls Barcelona with Stalemate

Barcelona’s four-match LaLiga losing streak continued on Saturday as Mauro Arambarri’s goal cancelled out Jules Kounde’s opener against lowly Getafe.

Barcelona trail Real Madrid by four points and Atletico by five. After Pedri’s assist, Kounde beat Getafe goalkeeper David Soria from close range in the ninth minute. The French full back advanced diagonally to take Pedri’s pass, but Soria saved his first shot.

Kounde scored after the goalkeeper dropped the ball. Raphinha missed a close-range header from a Kounde cross, and one minute later Getafe equalized when goalkeeper Inaki Pena saved a Coba da Costa volley but palmed the ball to Arambarri, who scored.

Barcelona had possession but couldn’t break Getafe’s five-man defense, with Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha having quiet nights. The second half’s greatest chance for Barca was substitute Frankie De Jong’s curling shot, which Soria saved with one hand while Raphinha missed a close-range shot.

Barca’s first league goal in Getafe in nearly five years came courtesy of Kounde after four seasons without a score at the Coliseum in South Madrid, where they last won in September 2019. Saturday’s lackluster performance continued Hansi Flick’s side’s inconsistent season.

They had a four-game league winless streak after beating Mallorca in early December. I’m fed up. Draws are unfortunate “Kounde told Movistar Plus.

“We dominated and they scored once. It’s unfortunate that we are wrong. We missed chances.”Getafe Stalls Barcelona with Stalemate
