The XXIV Olympic Winter Games coverage on NBC and the FIFA World Cup coverage on Fox were the main winners Monday night at the 44th annual Sports Emmy Awards, taking home three Emmys each. With 13 Emmys, ESPN was the night’s largest winner among media organizations.
At a ceremony held in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presented this year’s Sports Emmy Awards. The lifetime achievement award for his contributions to sports journalism will go to Bryant Gumbel.
Even while NATAS’ first Daytime Emmys telecast next month has been postponed due to the writer’s strike, the Sports Emmys were still held. You’ll see that the majority of the ceremony’s scripted components have been reduced to show respect for the WGA-represented writers who are on strike.

47 categories, including studio host, event analyst, live special, live series, documentary, journalism, public service programming, and esports categories, saw the announcement of winners.
