English Premier League announces Player of Season shortlist. Seven players, including Erling Haaland of Manchester City, were shortlisted for the EA SPORTS Player of the Season 2022–23 award, which the English Premier League announced on Thursday.
The Premier League announced the nominees for this season as Kevin De Bruyne and Haaland of Manchester City, Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka of Arsenal, Marcus Rashford of Manchester United, and Kieran Trippier of Newcastle United.
Voting for the season’s top player will occur on the EA SPORTS website through May 22.
The winner will be announced on Saturday, May 27. “The public votes will be combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide the winner,” the Premier League stated.

Kane of Spurs has 27 goals this season, which is 27 more than Haaland.

In terms of the most goals scored by a player in a single season, Haaland outscored league greats Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer.
De Bruyne, a Belgian star who plays for Manchester City, has made 16 assists this season, leading the Premier League in that category.
Saka, an Arsenal player, made 11 assists after De Bruyne. As well, Saka scored 13 goals.
De Bruyne, a mainstay for Manchester City since 2015, won the 2021–22 EA SPORTS Player of the Season award after the 31-year-old scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in the Premier League last year.

Six head coaches are now vying for the Premier League’s manager of the 2022–2023 season award in addition to the players.
Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), Mikel Arteta (Arsenal), Roberto De Zerbi (Brighton & Hove Albion), Unai Emery (Aston Villa), Eddie Howe (Newcastle United), and Marco Silva (Fulham) are the nominees for the Barclays Manager of the Season award.
The winner, who will be announced on Tuesday, May 30, will be chosen by a panel of football experts and the public, according to a statement from the Premier League.
