It is also discussed that Aston Villa is in talks to get Douglas Luiz back to the club, only 18 months after his transfer to Juventus. Villa are facing an increasing problem in the midfield as the Douglas Luiz transfer talks proceed. The club of Unai Emery has suffered injuries at an inappropriate time of the season.
Villa lacks choices in the central midfield. Boubacar Kamara is injured and has a long-term injury. John McGinn is also out of commission having picked up a new knock. Due to this, the club has been able to move fast in the market. The Douglas Luiz transfer has become understood as a short term fix with a long term acquaintance.
In summer of 2024 Douglas Luiz departed Aston Villa to join Juventus. This relocation was in a re-shuffling in Villa Park. But his stay in Italy has not been as intended. He has been fighting over frequent minutes. His position at Juventus was reduced because of changes in ownership of managers and tactics.
Luiz is in a temporary position at Nottingham Forest. Contrary to what was expected, he has barely had any appearances in the Premier League this season. Competition of place and injuries have decreased his participation. Consequently, he is facing an unknown future at Forest. This has presented the Douglas Luiz comeback to Aston Villa.
Villa are seeking a loan transaction. The goal is the depth addition without a financial risk in the long-term. Luiz is already familiar with the club and the system. Before he left him, he worked under Unai Emery. The familiarity is one of the key aspects in the ongoing negotiations.
The club has already been strengthened in attack. Aston Villa has recently signed PS18 million striker Tammy Abraham of Besiktas. Midfield has become the focus now that the forward line is taken care of. Emery desires harmony and order in the center of the pitch. Luiz matches that requirement.
According to the sources who are near the situation, talks are underway. There is however no agreement that has been made yet. Juventus will not be left out since they are still his contract holders. There is also the involvement of Nottingham Forest because of the loan structure.
