The opportunities were there, but the ability to score was lacking.
They had 27 shots, eight of which were on target, and 69% of the possession against Aston Villa. They failed to score, though and fell behind 2-0.

Although dominating at Stamford Bridge, Graham Potter’s team lost, dropping them into the bottom half of the Premier League standings.
This season, they have struggled to score goals; their 29 goals are lower than that of 12 of their Premier League rivals and are surpassed by relegation candidates Leeds United and Leicester City, who have scored 36 and 39 goals, respectively.
On Saturday, they were projected to score 2.09 goals, but they failed to do so.
The strain on Potter from Chelsea’s problems has increased as the club has spent more than £550 million since Todd Boehly took over as manager last summer.
The performance was booed in some areas of Stamford Bridge, and after the game, the hashtag “Potter out” was trending once more on social media.
But, former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink defended the manager, stating they “must continue with” Potter. The former Brighton manager accepted the blame for the loss.
“We weren’t the best,”

N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic squandered opportunities, while Kai Havertz and Joao Felix had attempts stopped.
