Bundesliga outfit ‘struggling to renew’ Manchester United. Manchester United may yet be able to profit from RB Leipzig’s growing reluctance to commit Dani Olmo to a long-term contract. The Spaniard reportedly has his eye on a move to Barcelona in La Liga, while he ‘is not opposed’ to a different destination in England. “Dani Olmo, another midfielder from the Bundesliga, is a major topic in the Premier League. Although he is open to moving to England, the Spaniard would prefer to join FC Barcelona, Christian Falk exclusively revealed in his most recent Fact Files for CaughtOffside.
While Leipzig is having trouble extending Olmo’s contract, Manchester United is also a potential buyer. The issue: Olmo wanted the new contract to include an immediate release clause for the summer of 2023.
Initially, two conditions were agreed upon in the initial round of negotiations last summer: one generally for any interested party (about €70-75 million) and one for his home and ultimate destination Spain (around €60 million).

“But an instant release clause could backfire spectacularly now that the season has advanced and the club is moving ahead to the next.
Leipzig’s main concern is that a club might sign Olmo just before the transfer deadline expires, leaving the team little time to find a replacement. Olmo should unquestionably stay for at least another year to secure the future.
The Red Devils may not have asked for a better moment to sign one of their targets this summer given that his contract is now slated to expire in 2024 and that the Spanish team is experiencing financial difficulties.

Because Jadon Sancho and Antony continue to underperform in terms of goal contributions, the 24-year-old Bundesliga star would lower the average age of United’s midfield while also providing the team with a wing outlet.
Olmo, who typically plays as an offensive midfielder, has had some success on the wings, contributing to six of his 10 goals this season from positions farther forward.
Of course, Marcus Rashford’s over-reliance in the forward line would not have been lessened by his rate of four goals this season, but it is unclear where the player would stand long-term in an Erik ten Hag squad.
