Olmo, a crucial member of the Spanish national squad as well, has been mentioned in connection with a return to Barcelona for a while now, but nothing has come to pass.

According to recent sources, the Catalans are still reportedly interested in their former academy ace. Olmo reportedly received a request from the  not to extend his contract with RB Leipzig, which expires in 2024.

Romano claims, though, that RB Leipzig is eager to extend the 24-year-contract old’s and has been pressuring him to sign a new one.

However, the transfer expert adds that Olmo is not a top priority for Barcelona heading into the summer transfer season because they have other objectives on their minds.

“Dani Olmo’s contract is scheduled to expire in June 2024. Leipzig is pushing for a new agreement and will continue to insist. Although Barcelona has a long-standing interest in Olmo, they are currently concentrating on other goals and nothing is happening with Olmo, according to Romano.

Even if Barcelona were interested in acquiring Olmo this summer, it would likely cost them roughly €40 million.

It would make sense for Barça to wait until next year to attempt and recruit Olmo for nothing given their financial predicament and their pursuit of other targets like Lionel Messi and Vitor Roque. But, that might no longer be an option if RB Leipzig is successful in getting him a new contract.
