Barcelona technical staff is not convinced with Bundesliga forward Barcelona has several gaping holes in the squad that must be addressed during the summer transfer window.
While they heavily reinforced the team during the 2022 summer transfer window, positions such as left-wing, right-back, and defensive midfield have become a problem as the season continues.
As the season kicked off, and Ferran Torres were the natural choices for the left wing. But Xavi preferred to use Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha on the wings, often swapping them mid-game to bring the best out of both.
Fati and Torres got their chances but failed to impress the coaching staff and fans. This was when Barcelona started to resort to a heavily modified 4-3-3 to gain more control on the pitch, with Gavi as the false left-winger.

However, it is becoming increasingly clear that Gavi cannot continue on the wing. Not only is the Spaniard more comfortable in midfield, Barcelona, too, but also needs an elite forward who can keep up with Dembele and Raphinha’s numbers from the right.
While the likes of Ez Abde and Yannick Carrasco are on their list, Barcelona was also reportedly monitoring Marcus Thuram’s situation, who becomes a free agent at the end of the season.
However, per a report published by Gabriel Sans of Mundo Deportivo, Thuram’s name does not generate consensus among the club’s technical staff. Barcelona isis looking for other profiles but has not completely ruled out the Frenchman.
Thuram has already decided that his stint at Borussia Monchengladbach has ended, but he has yet to decide on his future. Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Liverpool are among the teams considering pursuing his signature.
With more than two months remaining before the transfer window opens, it would be unwise to rule out any transfer targets for Barcelona yet, especially if they are available on a Bosman move.
