Arteta Refuses to Give Up Title Race

Despite a recent loss against West Ham United that expanded the gulf with leaders Liverpool, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has underlined his team’s dedication to the Premier League title hunt. Arteta is adamant, pointing out the team’s fortitude under hardship and injuries.

After a shock home loss to West Ham, the Gunners’ title ambitions suffered a major setback; Liverpool tightened their hold on the top spot with a pivotal triumph over Manchester City. Arteta is not giving up, though, noting out Arsenal has a game on the leaders and can still close the difference to eight points with a win.

Although Arteta’s will is commendable, Arsenal really has an uphill fight. Liverpool has to fail in at least three games, and Arsenal has to win all of their remaining games—including the next against Chelsea. The Gunners’ attacking woes were clear-cut in their loss to West Ham, and injuries to important players have left their team short.

“Over my dead body”, says Mikel Arteta. “Guys, if I quit believing I will be home. Mathematically it’s feasible,” Arteta informed reporters on Tuesday before Arsenal’s midweek game against Nottingham Forest.
