Manager Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid remarked on Tuesday among Spanish media reports of 20-year-old Turkish forward Arda Guler’s dissatisfaction at his supporting position as a substitute: younger players of the club must accept the hierarchy there.
Celebrated as one of the most exciting young forwards in Europe, Guler has not participated in a minute for Real in their past five games across all levels.
“Anyone who has any questions can come to my office; my door is always open,” Ancelotti said at a press conference preceding Wednesday’s Spanish Cup semi-final first leg against Real Sociedad.
“I have heard about a so-called ‘Guler Issue,’ but I have not personally been with such situation here… Every young athlete that visits here follows a procedure.
“It transpired with Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr., Federico Valverde… And check where they are right now. Joining the top squad in the globe calls for due time. Everyone gets it; whomever doesn’t, well, has to.”
Originally signed as 18-year-old talents from South America, Rodrygo, Vinicius and Valverde spent their first several seasons with Real Madrid as replacement players and reserve team member.
After a season on loan at Deportivo La Coruna, Valverde returned to be a major contributor to Real’s 2022 and 2024 Champions League triumphs.
Carlo Ancelotti, whose side is second only on goal difference in the LaLiga standings and in the Champions League quarter-finals, claimed he had no problems with Arda Guler and that the midfielder was working effectively.
“I spend every day with the guys. Every day I see (Guler) more or less happy and that’s normal since I don’t want to see a player happy when he doesn’t play.” Ancelotti stated.
“I come across a player who wants to play, works, and studies. Still, this is from a tiny portion of the time I spend with him. He spends a lot of time with other people and I’m not sure if they share my vision for him to develop and be able to represent Real Madrid. In such circumstances, there is a lack of communication.
” Right now the changing room has a nice vibe. You see Kylian Mbappe, arriving with humility and a somewhat low profile. Regarding ego, not much has changed. The veterans set an example, and little by bit the younger players advance to assume a more significant position.”
