Brazilian sensation Neymar is leaving Al-Hilal. After 18 months of injuries, the Saudi club released the 32-year-old by mutual consent on Monday. “Thanks for everything, Neymar, and good luck in the future,” the team posted on social media.
Al-Hilal signed Neymar in August 2023 for a staggering $104 million a year, but injuries limited him to seven games. He damaged his ACL in late 2023 while playing for Brazil and barely rebounded before another injury. His coach said, “He can’t perform at the level we’re used to.”
It’s unclear what’s ahead for Neymar. MLS teams are interested, but Santos, his first club in Brazil, may be next. Neymar, Brazil’s all-time leading scorer with 79 goals, wants one more opportunity in the 2026 World Cup. Will his return to Brazil end his story? Time will tell.
