Liam Delap Nottingham Forest transfer has been completed, with the England striker joining the City Ground side from Chelsea on a five-year contract in a deal worth £50 million.
The 23-year-old is Chelsea’s signing’s record young player, having spent one season with the club in a poor form. He never scored in his time at Stamford Bridge but Forest have put him under pressure to return to the form which saw him become one of the most promising young forwards in the Premier League.
Delap’s best Premier League season was with Ipswich Town in 2024-25. He managed to have 12 league goals in a season where Ipswich only won four matches and were relegated. He was a great performer for his physical presence, direct running and ability to carry out the ball into dangerous areas.
He had 26 shot-ending carries that season, a more than any other Premier League striker, and the qualities he brought to the attacking side he sees as a key part of the way forward in their system.
The transfer also comes with a huge payout for Chelsea. The London outfit picked him up following his sensational season at Ipswich and now have a £20m profit to be made on his move to Forest.
Delap will return to a club that is seeking to further develop their recent success under head coach Nuno Espírito Santo. The striker was eager to make the most of the opportunity and feels that the manager can make a difference to his development.
